Small Victories: Mapping London 2014 - 2015

The 100 drawings in this document record public expressions of love, in particular the act of holding hands on the streets of London. For this article, referred to as a map, all handholds are noted by date, time and place.

These drawings document candid moments of public body language shared between two Queer lovers. All drawings are of different couples and were observed by chance in the urban environment from December 2013 to October 2015.

This map presents not just a record of one social demographic, but seeks to create a catalogue of handholding shared and enjoyed universally. These observations reenforce my view that a held hand is a small but potent victory on the social grid, something to be relished and repeated.
